I love spring and I most certainly love fall, but winter, in a soft, quiet way holds an irresistible charm for me. Fireplaces, hot chocolate, fuzzy blankets…there’s something about holing up and being cozy that’s so appealing. Maybe more so for introverts, I don’t know. Even outside in the cold it’s lovely, whether building a snowman or tramping through snow. I wish there were more snow. Winter without snow is comparable to spring without flowers – but even a brown winter is comforting; after the color and vibrancy of the other seasons, it provides a calm relief on the eyes that doesn’t demand to be appreciated.
So, I’ll curl up with a book and yarn and enjoy what very little there is left of winter, knowing spring will be all the sweeter for it.
